Choir Placement Auditions 2024
Choir Placement Audition Information:
Aria: Prepare you italian aria (i.e. Caro Mio Ben) and sing either low voice or high voice key. The attached key is the low voice key, and the key that Concert Choir learned. You may choose to perform the high key if you prefer. The key you choose will not determine the voice part you are assigned to if accepted into one of the choirs. Submit your audition in canvas, via email attachment, or in person by appointment. If auditioning for Chamber Singers you should audition in front of a class or choir section. If necessary, be prepared to be asked to do the following:
Range: You will be asked to sing a few warm up exercises to hear the top and bottom of your range.
Tonal Recall: A series of notes will be played for you on the piano and you will be asked to repeat the pitches in the order you hear them. There will be 2-4 of these short examples.
Pitch recognition of a chord: 3 notes will be played simultaneously and you will be asked to sing of the notes. (i.e. bottom, middle, or top not of the chord)
Music terms: You will be asked to explain a few musical terms from your aria sheet music. (i.e. what is a crescendo?)
